  • Severe thunderstorms on 30 June caused multiple landslides and the overflow of the Gschnitzbach creek, affecting the Gschnitztal valley in the state of Tyrol, southwest Austria, resulting in evacuations and significant damage on 1 July.
  • Media reports, as of 1 July, that 47 people were evacuated by helicopter from the village of Gschnitz and three mountain huts nearby. Access to the village, these mountains huts (Bremerhutte, Innsbruckerhutte, and Tribulaunhutte) and corresponding hiking trails was cut off.
  • Within the next 24 hours, drier conditions are expected. As of 3 July, more rain and thunderstorms are expected to the west of Austria, including the already affected region of Tyrol.
