  • Following the floods and flash floods that affected the states of Texas and New Mexico, southern USA over the period from 4 until 8 July, the number of casualties has increased and reached a total of 127 fatalities.
  • In Texas, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reports, as of 14 July, 123 fatalities, of whom 98 across the Kerr county, 161 missing people, approximately 1,500 rescued people, and 229 currently evacuated people across seven shelters.
  • In New Mexico, FEMA reports, as of the same date, four fatalities, three missing people, and 99 currently evacuated people across six shelters.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast over most of Texas and New Mexico. Rainfall is also forecast over northern and western Texas and New Mexico on 15 July.
USA - Floods
  • Heavy thunderstorms have been affecting the state of Alabama, in the south-eastern United States, since 3 August, causing floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to media, as of 4 August, one person died and one has been injured in Cleburne County, in eastern Alabama, due to flooding, and several others have been rescued. In addition, one bridge was destroyed and at least ten roads have been blocked.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is still forecast over the south-eastern and eastern United States. More heavy rainfall and possible flash floods are expected in Georgia and South Carolina.
