Brazil – Severe weather and floods
  • In the past few days, Rio Grande do Sul state (southern Brazil) has experienced heavy rainfall and consequent flooding, resulting in people displacement and significant damage.
  • According to media, over 700 people have been displaced, and thousands of homes have been affected. The worst-hit municipality is São Lourenço do Sul, where more than 500 people were displaced after flooding in urban and rural areas. The aforementioned municipality is under a state of calamity. Additionally, several roads and bridges have been blocked following the flood events.
  • For the next 24 hours, no further rainfall is expected across the impacted state.
