Democratic Republic of the Congo - Floods and landslides
  • Very heavy rainfall has affected the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in particular Kalehe territory in northern South Kivu province, over the past few days, causing floods and triggering landslides that have resulted in casualties and severe damage.
  • According to UN OCHA, as of 27 August, 13 people have been killed, 12 injured, and more than 400 houses and bridges have been destroyed across Kalehe territory.
  • Over the next 36 hours, more heavy rainfall is still forecast over central and northern South Kivu province.
