  • Heavy rainfall, strong winds and lightning have been affecting several provinces of southern Viet Nam - Ha Tinh, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Son La, Ca Mau, Dong Nai and An Giang -  since 11 September, causing floods, landslides and severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 16 September, one fatality in the Ha Tinh province and one injured person in the Son La province due to lightning. In addition, the same source also reports a total of more than 1,800 affected people, over 450 damaged houses and three damaged schools across all the aforementioned affected provinces.
  • Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall is forecasted across the country, especially over southern Viet Nam.
