  • Storm Claudia has been affecting Portugal and the United Kingdom since 13 November, bringing heavy rain, flooding, and strong winds.
  • As of 17 November, three fatalities have been reported in Portugal, including two elderly people who drowned in a flooded house in Fernão Ferro (Seixal), Setúbal district, on 13 November, and one 85-year-old woman who died on 15 November in Albufeira (Algarve). Around 28 people have been injured in Albufeira, due to wind-related incidents and associated structural damage.
  • Thousands of power outages, significant flooding, and structural damage have been reported, particularly across the Península de Setúbal, Greater Lisbon, and Algarve regions.
  • In the United Kingdom, at least 85 people have been evacuated and rescued, and flooding affected at least 685 houses in Monmouth town in south-east Wales.
  • Over the next 24 hours, additional rain and strong winds are forecast across southern Portugal, although the storm is gradually weakening, while drier conditions are expected in the United Kingdom.
