  • The rainy season continues to affect most of Ecuador, and as of?11?March it had caused 605 flood events and more than?580 landslides, leading to casualties and widespread damage.
  • According to the Ecuadorian Secretariat for Risk Management (SNGR), eight people have died, 17 have been injured, and over?40?000 individuals have been affected. Additionally, 80 houses have been destroyed and 12?500 others affected. The hardest-hit provinces are Guayas, El?Oro, Esmeraldas, Los?Ríos and Manabí.
  • On?11?March the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMSR ) was activated to provide an estimation of the flood extent and for damage assessment.
  • For the next?48?hours, moderate to locally heavy rain is expected across most parts of the country.

  • The humanitarian impact continues to rise as the 2026 rainy season intensifies across Ecuador. From?1?January to the present, the country has recorded 629 flood events and 612 landslides. As of 12 March, 28 rivers are already overflowing and another 34 are at risk of overflow. The provinces most severely affected remain Guayas, El?Oro, Esmeraldas, Los?Ríos and Manabí.
  • According to the Ecuadorian Secretariat for Risk Management (SNGR), the death toll stands at 11?people (one in Bolivar, one in Los?Ríos, one in Guayas, three in Azuay, one in Bolívar, one in Imbabura, one in Cotopaxi, one in Morona-Santiago and one in Chimborazo). Twenty-four individuals have been injured, and more than?46?000?people have been affected. In addition, over?80?houses have been destroyed and 13?508?other dwellings have suffered damage.
  • On?11?March, the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMSR?870) was activatedto estimate flood extent and to conduct damage assessments; six maps have been published to date.
  • For the next?24?hours, moderate to locally heavy rain is forecast across most parts of the country.
