  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting eastern Malaysia (the Malaysian part of Borneo Island) since 21 February, causing floods, flash floods and overflowing rivers that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports, as of 23 February, more than 3,000 evacuated people, a part of whom are in a number of temporary evacuation centres across the Sabah and Sarawak states. The most affected districts are Pitas and Kota Marudu (Sabah state) and Kuching, Siburan and Padawan (Sarawak state).
  • Over the next 96 hours, more rainfall with locally heavy rainfall is still forecast over the whole of eastern Malaysia.
