  • In recent days, parts of Oman have been experiencing heavy rainfall that triggered floods and flash floods, leading to casualties and damage.
  • Media reports indicate that four people died in the South Al?Batinah Governorate (northern Oman), another person remains missing, and more than 40 people have been rescued across most parts of the country.
  • For 23–24?March, moderate to locally heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected, particularly over central and northern Oman. As of 23?March, five governorates are under a red warning for thunderstorms.

  • Over the last few days, heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and resultant flash floods have affected (particularly northeastern) Oman, resulting in fatalities and damage.
  • Media, as of 22 March, reports of 10 fatalities and 29 people rescued across the Al Batinah South, Ash Sharqiyah South, and Muscat governorates. 106 people have been displaced and sheltered in a school in Adam, Ad Dakhiliyah governorate. At least 200 homes have been damaged or destroyed. 
  • Authorities have further announced 161 accommodation centres are available across Oman.
  • On 25 March, heavy thunderstorms and rain are expected across Oman, with most of the country on red and orange alerts.
