An earthquake of 5.7 M at a depth of 10 km hit south-western Romania on 14 February at 13.16 UTC (15.16 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 2 km north-west of Lelesti (Gorj County, Oltenia Region).
A foreshock of 5.2 ML (local magnitude) and several aftershocks up to 4.1 ML have been recorded in the area as reported by the National Research-Development Institute for Earth Physics of Romania.
USGS PAGER estimates that up to 90,000 people were exposed to strong shaking.
According to media, there are no immediate reports fo any casualties or damage.
