  • An earthquake of 5.7 M at a depth of 10 km hit south-western Romania on 14 February at 13.16 UTC (15.16 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 2 km north-west of Lelesti (Gorj County, Oltenia Region).
  • A foreshock of 5.2 ML (local magnitude) and several aftershocks up to 4.1 ML have been recorded in the area as reported by the National Research-Development Institute for Earth Physics of Romania.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that up to 90,000 people were exposed to strong shaking.
  • According to media, there are no immediate reports fo any casualties or damage.
