  • An earthquake of 5.5 M at a depth of 10 km occurred in Narsingdi district, on 21 November at 04:38 (UTC, 10:38 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 3 km south-east of Kaliganj Upazila and 20 km northeast of the capital, Dhaka.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that up to 194,000 people were exposed to very strong shaking, 5,4 million to strong shaking.
  • According to media, as of 21 November, six people died and dozens have been injured with several damaged buildings. The earthquake was felt in Kolkata, the neighbouring state of West Bengal, India.

  • The death toll due to the 5.5 M earthquake at a depth of 10 km, which occurred on 21 November at 4:38 UTC (10:38 local time) and affected central Bangladesh, 20 km northeast of the capital, Dhaka, is still increasing.
  • As of 24 November, media reports ten fatalities, of which four are in Narsingdi district, three in Dhaka city, and one in Narayangonj district, according to UN OCHA. The same source reports that 507 people were injured across Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, and Narayanganj, and several buildings collapsed or were damaged.
