  • An earthquake of 5.8 M at a depth of 10 km occurred in south-western Kachin State in  northern Myanmar on 31 May at 11.20 UTC (17.50 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 10 km west of the Indawgyi Natural Lake and 125 km west-southwest of Myitkyina city in Kachin State.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that 9,000 people were exposed to very strong shaking and 30,000 to strong shaking.
  • According to media, the seismic event caused damage to some buildings in the Mohnyin township of Kachin State, there were no reports of any casualties.
