China - Landslide (ECHO 17 Nov 2025)
Pubdate: 11/12/2025 10:09:30 AM
  • On 10–11 November, a landslide in Sichuan province, Southwestern China, caused damage to the Hongqi Bridge section of National Highway 317 in Maerkang city.
  • According to media, as of 11 November, the bridge, which connects the centre of China to the Tibet region, partially collapsed on 11 November following slope instability, a landslide, and the failure of the underlying roadbed.
  • Authorities had already evacuated the area as a precaution after detecting early warning signs on 10 November. The highway remains closed, with detours in place, though the duration of the closure is still unclear.
  • Over the next 48 hours, isolated light rain is expected in the eastern part of Southwestern China.
