Afghanistan - Earthquake, update (ECHO 17 Nov 2025)

The death toll of the 6.3 M earthquake which struck northern Afghanistan, near the Uzbekistan and Tajikistan border, on 2 November at 20:29 (UTC), (3 November at 00:59 local time), has increased.
On 10 November, UN OCHA reported 26 fatalities, including 12 in Balkh, 13 in Samangan, and one in Sar-e-Pul provinces. A total of 1,172 people were injured. 3,027 families have been affected, with 874 houses destroyed and 2,153 houses damaged.
More than 2,200 families have received assistance - 1,970 in Samangan and 252 in Balkh - including emergency shelter and non-food items (ES-NFIs), food, health, nutrition, WASH and protection services. Assistance delivery has been concentrated in the hardest-hit districts.
