Philippines, Taiwan - Typhoons FUNG-WONG, update (ECHO 17 Nov 2025)

Typhoon FUNG-WONG crossed the northern Philippines on 9 November and is moving northeastward over the South China Sea to Taiwan. On 12 November at 00:00 (UTC), its centre was located 160 km southeast of southern Taiwan with maximum sustained winds of 83 km/h (tropical storm).
FUNG-WONG is forecast to make landfall on 12 November around noon near Linbian town in Pingtung county, approximately 23 km southeast of Kaohsiung city, as a tropical storm.
As of 12 November, in the Philippines, the NDRRMC reports that 14 people died in the Cagayan region, and 31 people have been injured across six regions. According to DSWD-DROMIC, 1.95 million people have been displaced and approximately 5.17 million people have been affected. In Taiwan, media reports 51 injured people and 8,326 evacuated people in Hualien County, with more than 1,000 houses that have been flooded. In addition, schools and offices have been closed in central and southern Taiwan.
On 12-13 November, rain and wind gusts are still expected over the Batanes and Babuyanes Islands in northern Philippines. Heavy rain and strong winds are expected over southern and eastern Taiwan, where red alert warnings have been issued.
