Thailand - Severe weather (ECHO 14 Mar 2026)
Pubdate:
3/13/2026 10:55:06 AM
Strong winds, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall have been affecting north-western Thailand (mainly the three neighbouring provinces of Lampang, Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son) since 10 March, causing a number of severe weather-related incidents (mainly due to the strong wind) that have resulted in affected populations and damage.
The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 13 March, a total of nearly 1 000 affected people and nearly 200 damaged houses across the Lampang, Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son provinces, where the most affected is the Chiang Mai province.
Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall with locally heavy rainfall is still forecast over northern Thailand, including the already affected provinces.
