Heavy rainfall continues to affect eastern Malaysia (the Malaysian part of Borneo Island), causing floods and triggering landslides that have resulted in more population displacement and damage.’
The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 13 March, a total of 320 still evacuated people throughout the Sabah state, of whom 300 are in five evacuation centres across the Paitan district due to floods and 20 evacuated people are in one evacuation centre in the Sandakan district due to landslides. ADINet also reports a total of nearly 1 650 affected people since the beginning of the events across the Sabah and the Sarawak states.
Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is still forecast over the whole of eastern Malaysia.
