Kenya - Severe weather and floods (ECHO 05 Apr 2026)

Since 31?March, heavy rainfall and the resulting floods and landslides have affected more than 30?counties in Kenya, causing fatalities and displacement.
Media reports, as of that date, indicate at least 110?deaths – 37 in Nairobi, 26 in the Eastern region, 14 in the Rift Valley, 11 in Nyanza, six in the Central region, five in the Coast region and two in the West region – and three people missing, with the numbers expected to rise as search and rescue operations continue. A total of 34?765?people have been displaced and are sheltering in temporary accommodation. Several roads and bridges have been damaged and rendered impassable.
Over the next 24?hours, additional moderate rain is forecast across the country.
