Dominican Republic - Severe weather and floods (ECHO 15 Apr 2026)

Since?8?April, heavy rain has been affecting the Dominican Republic, causing widespread flooding and resulting in casualties and damage.
According to media reports, one person died in a weather-related incident in the western part of Santo Domingo municipality, thousands of people have been evacuated and approximately?1?000 houses have been damaged.
ECHO funded ANACANOA platform (WFP) has been activated to share analysis and reports with authorities.
For the next?48?hours, moderate rain with isolated thunderstorms is forecast across most of the country.
