Türkiye - Severe weather and floods (ECHO 15 Apr 2026)

Since 7 April, heavy rain, floods and the overflow of the Bülbül Stream have been affecting Kadirli district, Osmaniye province, southern Türkiye, resulting in fatalities, damage, and traffic disruptions.
Media, as of 7 April, report of two fatalities in Kadirli district, as they were swept away in their vehicle. Several people were evacuated.
In the Düzici district of Osmaniye province, a bridge spanning the Delici River collapsed. Submerged streets and disrupted traffic have also been reported for Gaziantep and Sanliurfa provinces.
127 houses and 21 workplaces were rendered unusable. During the flood, which lasted approximately five hours, hundreds of vehicles were also submerged.
Authorities deployed 550 personnel and over 150 machinery and equipment.
Over the next 48 hours, additional rain is forecast over most of Türkiye, with additional thunderstorms in the south and southeast, and snowfall over the northern half of the country.
