Malaysia - Floods (ECHO 23 May 2026)

Heavy rainfall has been affecting Peninsular Malaysia (particularly the Johor and Kedah states) over the past 48 hours, causing floods that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 18 May, 359 evacuated people, of whom 312 evacuated people are in two evacuation centres across the Pontian district (Johor state) and 47 evacuated people are in one evacuation centre in the Kuala Muda district (Kedah state).
Over the next 24 hours, more rainfall with locally heavy rainfall is still forecast over the whole of Peninsular Malaysia.
