  • An earthquake of 5.7 M at a depth of 13 km occurred offshore at approximately 25 km south-east of Goudoura, Lasithi (south-eastern Crete), on 24 April at 3:18 UTC (6:18 local time).
  • There are no immediate reports of casualties and damage.

Viet Nam - Severe weather and landslide, update (ECHO 25 Apr 2026)

  • Heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning have been affecting five provinces of northern Viet Nam (Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa and Phu Tho) since 21 April, causing several severe weather-related incidents (mainly due to the strong wind and lightning) and a landslide that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 24 April, one fatality in the Quang Ninh province due to lightning. The same source also reports a total of 768 affected people, one destroyed house, 191 damaged houses and seven damaged schools across Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa provinces. In addition, following the huge landslide that occurred in the Phu Ha area (Phu Tho province) on 21 April, ADINet reports one injured person and 11 evacuated families.
  • Over the next 72 hours, more rainfall with locally heavy rainfall is still forecast over central and northern Viet Nam.

Indonesia - Severe weather and floods (ECHO 25 Apr 2026)

  • On 22?April, heavy rainfall triggered widespread flooding across Indonesia, causing casualties, displacement and damage to infrastructure. 
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports that, in North?Sumatra, one person was injured and a total of 600 individuals were affected. Three houses were completely destroyed, together with a bridge and a school, while another 150 houses sustained damage. 
  • In North?Sulawesi, coastal flooding displaced 16 people and impacted 236 residents living in 59 homes. 
  • In East?Java, the overflow of the Welang River Basin affected 5 420 people across 1 355 houses, while in South?Jakarta, flooding caused by the Ciliwung River’s overflow affected 2 513 people living in 937 houses. 
  • Over the next 48?hours, additional moderate to locally heavy rain is forecast for large parts of Indonesia, with additional isolated lightning across East Java.

USA - Wildfires, update (ECHO 25 Apr 2026)

  • Wildfires have continued to burn across northern Florida (Levy, Putnam and Clay counties) and Georgia (Brantley, Clinch and Echols counties) since 21 April, causing an increased number of evacuated people and widespread damage.
  • According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), as of 24 April, the ongoing active wildfires are four across the affected counties, and they are not fully contained. These four wildfires have burnt so far an area of approximately 16 785 hectares.
  • In Florida, FEMA reports one injured person and evacuation orders for 223 people. In Georgia, FEMA also reports evacuation orders for 940 people (as of 23 April), 83 destroyed structures and 70 damaged structures.
  • Over the next 72 hours, according to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS), the fire danger forecast remains from moderate to very high across northern Florida and Georgia.
