Greece - Earthquake (ECHO 10 Mar 2026)

An earthquake of 5.3 M and a depth of 10 km occurred in Mugla Province, north-western Greece, on 8 March at 3:32 UTC (5:32 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 2 km southeast of Rodotópi and 19 km from the city of Ioannina in the Epirus region. The earthquake was also felt in the Ionian islands and in Albania.
The USGS PAGER estimates that approximately 3 000 people were exposed to very strong shaking and 15 000 to strong shaking.
According to media reports, as of 9 March, ten houses in the municipality of Souli and two churches in the village of Psina have been damaged. National authorities suspended classes in the Ioannina municipality to allow inspections of school buildings. Some landslides were reported, also affecting one main highway in the affected area, and power outages were recorded in Ioannina.

USA - Severe weather (ECHO 10 Mar 2026)

Very strong winds, tornadoes, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms affected the northern Midwest region (mainly the state of Michigan) and central USA (in particular the state of Oklahoma) over 5-6 March, causing several strong wind-related incidents that resulted in casualties and damage.
Media reports, as of 9 March, eight fatalities, of whom four are across Michigan (three in Branch county and one in Cass county) and four more across Oklahoma (two in Major County and two more in Okmulgee county), in all cases due to tornadoes. In addition, the media also reports more than 15 injured people in Michigan and over 11 000 power outages across both the aforementioned affected states and Kansas and Texas.
Over the next 48 hours, rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast over most of Michigan, with snowfall over northern Michigan. Rainfall and thunderstorms are also forecast over most of Oklahoma in the same period.

Indonesia - Severe weather, floods and landslides (ECHO 10 Mar 2026)

Heavy rainfall and strong winds affected the Java island (mainly the western part of the island) over 7-8 March, causing floods, strong wind-related incidents and triggering landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage.
The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 9 March, seven fatalities, of whom four are in the Bekasi regency (West Java province) and three more across the Jember and Pasuruan regencies (East Java province).
ADINet also reports four still missing persons across the Bekasi regency and two injured persons across the Jember and Pasuruan regencies. In addition, the same source reports 617 displaced people (495 in the Banten province and 122 in the Jakarta province, with a part in two evacuation centres). Furthermore, a total of over 53 500 affected people were reported across the Banten, Jakarta, West Java and East Java provinces.
Over the next 48 hours, moderate rainfall is still forecast over the whole Java island.

Kenya - Floods (ECHO 10 Mar 2026)

Heavy rainfall has been affecting the capital Nairobi area in south-central Kenya since 6 March, causing widespread flooding that has resulted in casualties and damage.
Media report, as of 9 March, 42 fatalities, hundreds of families that have been displaced, destroyed houses, damage to vehicles, road closures, and traffic disruption at the Nairobi airport.
Search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
Over the next 48 hours, showers and thunderstorms are expected over Nairobi city and the south-eastern part of the country.
