  • A new tropical storm (the first of the Eastern North Pacific season) named ALVIN formed over the Ocean on 28 May in the evening (UTC) and started moving north toward the Gulf of California and the Baja California Sur state (western Mexico) as a tropical storm. On 30 May at 3.00 UTC, its centre was located offshore approximately 780 km south of the Cabo San Lucas city (the southern Baja California Sur state), with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h.
  • ALVIN is forecast to continue moving northward over the Ocean and to pass very close (approximately 10 km east) to the southernmost area of the Baja California Sur state on 1 June in the morning (UTC) as a tropical depression.
  • Rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over north-western Mexico and the southern Baja California Sur state starting from 31 May.
