- A tropical depression formed over the South West Indian Ocean, just east of the coast of eastern Madagascar, on 25 February very early in the morning (UTC). On 25 February at 6.00 UTC, its centre was located offshore approximately 555 km north-west of Reunion and approximately 605 km north-west of Mauritius, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h.
- On the forecast track, the tropical depression is expected to continue moving south-east over the Ocean, strengthening, and to pass between Reunion and Mauritius on 27 February during the day (the exact timing is uncertain at this time) as a tropical cyclone, with maximum sustained winds up to 158 km/h.
- Over the next 48 hours, heavy rainfall, strong winds, rough sea conditions and storm surges are forecast over Reunion, Mauritius, and eastern Madagascar.

- On 25 February, tropical storm GARANCE continued gaining strength while moving southeast. On 26 February 6.00 UTC, its centre was located over the southern Indian Ocean approximately 385 km north-west of Reunion and approximately 475 km north-west of Mauritius, with maximum sustained winds of 108 km/h.
- On the forecast track, GARANCE is expected to furhter strengthen into a tropical cyclone, and to make landfall over north-eastern Reunion on 27 February in the afternoon, with maximum sustained winds up to 190 km/h.
- Meanwhile, a new tropical storm named HONDE formed over the Mozambique Channel on 25 February and started moving toward Madagascar. On 26 February 6.00 UTC, its centre was located over the Channel approximately 515 km east of the far south-eastern Madagascar coast, with maximum sustained winds of 97 km/h.
- Over the next 72 hours, heavy rainfall, strong winds, and storm surges are forecast over Reunion, Mauritius, and central and southern Madagascar.

- Tropical cyclone GARANCE is turning southward in the Southern Indian Ocean. On 27 February at 0.00 UTC, it was located approximately 340 km north of Réunion (France) with maximum winds of 179 km/h.
- GARANCE is forecast to strengthen and make landfall in Réunion early 28 February, with maximum winds of 130 km/h and gusts between 170 and 200 km/h (reported by COGIC).
- Authorities carried out anticipation and planning work to prepare the operational response.
- Meanwhile, tropical cyclone HONDE is moving southeast in the Mozambique Channel towards south-western Madagascar. On 27 February at 0.00 UTC, it is located approximately 356 km west of Toliara city, with maximum winds of 127 km/h.
- HONDE is forecast to strengthen and pass close to southern Madagascar on 1-2 March, with winds up to 137 km/h.
- For the next 48 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are expected across Réunion and south-western Madagascar. Réunion is under orange cyclone alert, while red warnings are in force in parts of Madagascar.

- On 27 February, tropical cyclone GARANCE continued moving south while strengthening. On 28 February around 6.00 UTC, it made landfall over the north of Réunion, with maximum winds of 179 km/h.
- According to media, emergency accommodation centres have opened across Réunion. Around 500 people already evacuated, and schools and airports are closed.
- GARANCE is forecast to move southward over central Réunion on 28 February in the morning, slightly weakening.
- Copernicus EMS was activated () on 27 February.
- Meanwhile, tropical cyclone HONDE continued eastwards over the Mozambique Channel toward Madagascar. On 28 February at 6.00 UTC, it was located offshore approximately 80 km south of the south-western Madagascar coast, with maximum winds of 137 km/h.
- Over the next 24 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds, and storm surges are forecast over Réunion, while heavy rainfall is forecast over Mauritius. Météo France La Réunion issued the purple cyclone alert over the whole island. Over the next 72 hours, heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is forecast over southern and central Madagascar.

- Tropical cyclone GARANCE crossed Réunion in the morning (UTC) of 28 February bringing heavy rain and very strong winds that caused floods and landslides. As a result of its passage, casualties and widespread damage have been recorded.
- According to the Inter-ministerial Crisis Management Operational Centre (COGIC), four people died, six people have been injured (three of them seriously), and 180 people are still in shelters. Additionally, 90,000 houses are still experiencing power cuts, 8% of the population is completely without running water while 36% was affected by water supply issues, particularly in Saint-Benoit town.
- National and local authorities are conducting rescue and emergency operations across the island.
- Copernicus Emergency Management Service was activated () on 27 February and two maps have been produced so far.
- For the next 48 hours, no more rainfall is expected across Réunion while GARANCE is dissipating over the southern Indian Ocean.
