  • The newly formed Tropical Storm DUMAKO is moving westwards over the Indian Ocean, and on 14 February at 0.00 UTC its centre was located about 720 km east of the north-eastern coast of Madagascar, with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h (Tropical Storm).
  • DUMAKO is forecast to continue westwards over the Indian Ocean and to reach the coast of north-eastern Madagascar in the midday of 15 February, making landfall in an area between Sava and Analanjirofo Regions, with maximum sustained winds up to 85 km/h. After that, DUMAKO is expected to weaken to a tropical depression, while it moves west across northern Madagascar.
  • Madagascar has been heavily impacted by the passage of Tropical Cyclone BATSIRAI on 5-6 February over central and southern areas of the country. The results of the first needs assessments will be communicated officially on 14 February by the Office of Risks and Disasters (BNGRC) in Madagascar.
  • Red warnings have been issued for coastal areas in Sava and Analanjirofo Regions. Heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecast over north Madagascar from 15 February.

  • Storm DUMAKO is moving westwards over the Indian Ocean towards north-eastern Madagascar. On 15 February at 6.00 UTC its centre was located about 80 km east of Nosy Boraha Island, with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h (Tropical Storm).
  • DUMAKO is forecast to make landfall over south-eastern Analanjirofo Region, close to Nosy Boraha Island on 15 February late morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 70-75 km/h. After that, DUMAKO will cross northern Madagascar as a tropical depression on 16 February.
  • Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast over north-eastern Madagascar, particularly over the Analanjirofo Region, where a red warning for cyclone is in effect. Yellow warnings for cyclone have been issued across the regions of Sava, Toamasina I-II, Befandriana-Avaratra, Mandritsara, Andilamena, Amparafaravola and Ambatondrazaka.

  • DUMAKO crossed Nosy Boraha Island and made landfall over the Soanierana Ivongo District area (Analanjirofo Region) approximately at 12.00 UTC bringing heavy rain and strong winds. On 16 February at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located inland about 20 km north-west of Anjiamavo Town (Betsiboka Region, northern-central Madagascar), with maximum sustained winds of 42 km/h (tropical depression).
  • DUMAKO is forecast to cross north-western Madagascar on the morning of 16 February, after that it will move over the Mozambique Channel, and will approach the north-eastern coast of Mozambique on 17-18 February, with maximum sustained winds up to 65 km/h.
  • On 16-17 February, heavy rain and moderate to strong winds are forecast over the area of Analanjirofo, Mandritsara, Andilamena, Amparafaravola, Ambatondrazaka, Brickaville, Toamasina I-II where a post-hazard vigilance is in effect, as reported by Meteo Madagascar.
