  • Wildfires continue to affect the southern coastal areas close to Cape Town City, Western Cape Province resulting in ongoing evacuations. The JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS) registered nearly 3,500 ha of burnt areas in the nearby of  Cape Town, as of 30 January.
  • According to media all the residents living in Pringle Bay Town, where the burnt area is approximately of 500 ha, have been evacuated while residents in the nearby town of Betty's Bay have been partially evacuated.
  • According to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS), on 31 January - 1 February the fire danger forecast is from moderate to high in the affected area.

  • Several wildfires continue to affect the Greater Cape Town area and the Cape Peninsula , Western Cape Province over the last week, causing evacuations and widespread damage.
  • According the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS), as of 31 January, the total burnt area across the affected region is approximately 25,000 ha. A number of these wildfires are currently under containment.
  • Media report, as of 1 February, around 250 displaced people and dozens of damaged houses in the Cape Peninsula, just south of Cape Town urban area. In addition, several evacuated people and four destroyed houses were reported across the Overberg District Municipality, south-east of the Greater Cape Town area. Moreover, a number of evacuated people and 40 destroyed houses were reported in the Cape Winelands District Municipality, east of the Greater Cape Town area.
  • Over the next 24 hours, according to the JRC GWIS, the fire danger forecast is still expected from high to exteme across the already affected area.
