Loreto, Peru, April 2021Indeci reported that the Huallaga River overflowed on 02 April 2021, flooding areas of Santa Cruz, Alto Amazonas province, affecting 248 homes, 8 educational institutions, 2 bridges and hectares of crops. On 04 April the overflowing Marañón River damaged buildings, including a school, in the town of Maypuco, Urarinas district, Loreto province. On 05 April flooding from the Huallaga river damaged homes, roads, bridges and livelihoods in Teniente Cesar López Rojas, Alto Amazonas Province. Damage assessments are ongoing. On 10 April more flooding from the Huallaga river occurred, this time affecting Lagunas district in Alto Amazonas Province. Damage assessments are ongoing. On 10 April the Ucayali River overflowed in the towns of María de Shiari, Bellavista and Malvinas from the district of Maquia, province of Requena. Damage assessments are ongoing. On 10 April the Morona River overflowed, flooding the surrounding areas in the district of Morona, province of Datem de Marañón, damaging homes and crops. Damage assessments are ongoing.
