Tropical Cyclone Conson, Philippines, September 2021Tropical Cyclone Conson (local name Jolina), brought strong winds and heavy rainfall to parts of the Philippines after making its first landfall in Hernani, Eastern Samar on 06 September 2021. Twelve fishermen were reported missing in roughs seas off the coast of the province of Antique. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in the Philippines, the storm affected a total of 12,213 people from 2,753 families across the provinces of Albay, Antique, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Masbate, Negros Occidental, Samar and Sorsogon. As of 08 September, 10,976 people had been displaced, with around 8,000 staying in evacuation centres and others with family or friends. Two houses were completely destroyed and a further 24 damaged. A bridge and several roads were also damaged. NDRRMC reported flooding in 12 locations across the provinces of Masbate (1 location), Antique (2 locations), Cebu (2), Leyte (3) and Samar (4). Philippines Coast Guard also reported around 200 people were evacuated from floods in Naic in Cavite Province. As of 13 September, NDRRMC reported the passage of Tropical Cyclone Conson 06 to 08 September caused at least 17 fatalities, 24 injured and seven missing people. 29,830 people were still displaced across 181 evacuation centres and up to 313,373 people affected. Flooding was reported in 184 locations across the provinces of Bulacan, Aurora, Pampanga, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Negros Occidental, Aklan, Cebu, Leyte, Samar, Southern Leyte and Biliran.
