Valle De Cauca Department, Colombia, January 2023Heavy rain caused flooding and landslides in areas of Valle De Cauca Department, Colombia, from around 14 January 2023. Civil Defence reported floods in Candelaria on 14 January affected 78 people and damaged 18 homes. On 15 January a landslide struck in Restrepo, damaging 5 homes. Also on 15 January an embankment broke along the banks of the Cauca river in the municipality of Andalucía. Local media reported the overflow of the Cauca River flooded the village of Villa Paz in Jamundí, on January 19 in the early hours of the morning, affecting 15 families. In El Cairo, a landslide blocked roads leaving around 20 villages isolated. Flooding inundated wide areas of Buga (Guadalajara de Buga) on 20 January 2023. The National Army were deployed to help clean up operations. No injuries were reported. Full damage assessments were still to be completed, as of 23 January. On 20 January Secretaría de Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres del Valle del Cauca reported 19 municipalities in a state of emergency.Mon 23 Jan 2023FloodList provided by Copernicus GLOFAS
