  • In the last few days, central Afghanistan has been affected by heavy rainfall that caused floods and resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to media and GDACS, four people died in the Town of Firozkoh (Ghor Province) while in Pasaband District, located in the same province, two others died and a person is reported missing following flood events. Furthermore, more than 100 houses have been destroyed as well as 200 ha of crops.
  • For the next 24 hours, drier conditions are expected across the affected province while light to moderate rain is forecast over north-western Afghanistan.
Afghanistan, Late May 2023Heavy rain and flash floods on 23 May 2023 killed four people in Ghor Province, Afghanistan. The incident occurred in a small village outside the provincial capital Chaghcharan (also Firuzkoh). Houses were destroyed or washed away during the floods.
