  • Heavy rainfall, strong wind and thunderstorms affected the Central Plains and the Midwest regions and particularly Iowa on 21 May, causing tornados that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to media, as of 23 May, five people died in Greenfield city in Adair county in south-western Iowa and at least 35 have been injured. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported, as of 22 May, more than 100 destroyed buildings and 14,000 people affected by power outages.
  • For the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms are expected in the central and eastern parts of the United States.

  • On 9 June, heavy rainfall hit the Albuquerque city area, New Mexico, southern USA, causing flash floods and resulting in fatalities and damage.
  • According to media, as of 11 June, one person died in northeast Albuquerque, and two others have been rescued in in southeast Albuquerque.
  • For the next 24 hours, drier conditions are expected across the affected city.
Hurricane Beryl, USA, July 2024Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in Texas, USA, on 08 July. Storm surge of up to 2 metres in some areas caused coastal flooding. Prior to landfall campers on the beaches along the Texas coast were moved to safer ground. Heavy rain caused flooding in multiple roads of Houston and Harris County, prompting high water rescues. One person died after a vehicle was trapped in flood waters in Houston, Mayor John Whitmire said. Harris County Flood Control reported creeks and streams were out of their banks in at least 19 locations, in particular in Clear Creek south of Houston. Two people died in flood waters in Fort Bend County. Texas Division of Emergency Management reported over 50 roads were flooded. Wind damage took out power for over 2 million homes and businesses in Texas. Schools were closed in several districts. Hundreds of flights were cancelled or delayed.
