Pubdate:

Very strong winds, tornadoes, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms affected the northern Midwest region (mainly the state of Michigan) and central USA (in particular the state of Oklahoma) over 5-6 March, causing several strong wind-related incidents that resulted in casualties and damage.
Media reports, as of 9 March, eight fatalities, of whom four are across Michigan (three in Branch county and one in Cass county) and four more across Oklahoma (two in Major County and two more in Okmulgee county), in all cases due to tornadoes. In addition, the media also reports more than 15 injured people in Michigan and over 11 000 power outages across both the aforementioned affected states and Kansas and Texas.
Over the next 48 hours, rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast over most of Michigan, with snowfall over northern Michigan. Rainfall and thunderstorms are also forecast over most of Oklahoma in the same period.
